Akeal Hosein is on 99 T20Is—not yet 100
West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein could reach his 100th T20I when the India series begins on 6 October, but he made the condition clear in a 5 October Lucknow interview: “I'm still at 99. I have to get selected to make that 100 game.” The Hindu reported his words. He is in the announced West Indies squad; a milestone appearance has not happened merely because he is on the tour.
Do not publish a 100th-match result or award before he is named to play.
Why his powerplay bowling is a real India-series question
Hosein told the Lucknow press that West Indies would focus on planning and execution against India rather than backing down. ESPNcricinfo's match-eve interview explores how he blends bowling data with judgement against aggressive batters. That is a report of a bowler's approach, not a claim that he already dismissed a particular India player in this series.
A 100-cap landmark can be overshadowed by predicted-XI lists. The useful question is narrower: if picked on Tuesday, it will be his 100th T20I; if he is not selected, the landmark will wait. A captain's match-day combination and the confirmed toss sheet—not a preview—resolve which outcome applies.
The match is separate from the completed ODI leg
The BCCI schedules the first T20I for 6 October at 7:00 PM IST at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium. Hosein is named in CWI's men's T20I group; the prior 3 October ODI result does not count as a T20I cap. Neither article should be mistaken for official access, live statistics or a guarantee of playing time. A new scorecard after Tuesday's toss can establish the milestone; absent that, the headline remains conditional.
What would confirm the 100th appearance
The official BCCI or ICC match card's named playing XI is the next decisive source. If Hosein plays, a properly dated match report can add the performance and confirmed milestone; if not, retain this 5 October interview as a preview. No match-specific wicket tally or bowling figures are known in advance.
