Tanmay Baloda's 6/32 shapes India U19's first day
Tanmay Baloda took 6/32 as India Under-19 dismissed Australia Under-19 for 174 on 5 October, day one of the second Youth Test in Ahmedabad. But India also lost two early wickets and closed at 38/2 after 15 overs, trailing by 136 runs. The BCCI scorecard shows stumps, day one; ESPNcricinfo's day-one report supplies the six-wicket spell. India has not won the second Test on day one.
India trail by 136 with eight wickets remaining in their first innings. This is not the completed match result.
Where the Australian innings turned
The independent report says the new-ball bowlers removed both Australian openers early; Baloda's left-arm spin then made inroads through the middle order. Australia were six down in the 21st over before Charlie Henderson (37) and Jacob Pietz (26) added a 70-run stand. Baloda broke that partnership and finished with six wickets. Neel Patel contributed 31; Aayan Akram took 2/45.
The recovery partnership is why “all out for 174” does not mean the innings lacked resistance. The score describes 73 overs, not a T20 innings. The original second Youth Test time and Ground A preview was published before play and addresses a different reader task: location and first-Test context. This new report uses only the completed first day's play as its news event.
India's reply leaves the game live
Australia struck back by removing Lakshya Raichandani for one and Sagar Virk for 16. At stumps Kushagra Ojha was 13 not out and captain Yashbardhan Chauhan seven not out, according to the day-one account. The BCCI card's 38/2 means Australia's 174 still leads; it does not give India a lead or settle the four-day match.
Raichandani's double-century powered India's first-Test innings win, but that earlier score does not transfer into the current match. The pre-match background page explains the Rajkot result and why an older Ground B advisory differed from current Ground A listings; this story does not reprint its entire preview.
What to check on 6 October
The BCCI scorecard is the appropriate place for day-two wickets, score and any eventual final result. Avoid a second-test winner headline until the match has actually finished; this page is a dated day-one dispatch and can receive a substantive update after new play. This is youth multi-day cricket; the separate senior India–West Indies T20I on 6 October involves different players and a different format.
